Heroic earthling Flash Gordon saves the world from the nefarious Ming the Merciless in this lavish, intentionally campy adaptation of the famous sci-fi comic strip. The story is as basic as space operas get: Ming (Max von Sydow) has developed a plan to destroy the Earth, and Flash (Sam J. Jones) and his attractive companion, Dale Arden (Melody Anderson), are called upon to stop him. Sam J. Jones plays a professional football player nicknamed Flash who is kidnapped and launched into space where the battle for earth begins.
The End? Possibly not, a reliable source says that actor Channing Tatum has been approached to possibly reboot or create a sequel to the 80s movie. Although the movie did not blow out any box office records it has soon become a beloved cult classic. What does this mean for the re-birth of the franchise?
Some question we have is will it keep the same campy tone as the original or will the make it dark in brooding as it seems they do with almost every superhero these days. Or perhaps they will find a nice balance like in The Avengers. The original role played by Sam J Jones would be played by Tatum, all I hope is Sam plays some role in the new movie.
